Doug Emhoff hits back at Donald Trump over attacks on Kamala Harris

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff on Tuesday confronted former President Trump over his attacks on Vice President Harris and rejected the nicknames of his new rival in the White House.

Trump has been attacking Harris as “laughing Kamala” and “lying Kamala” since she entered the presidential race on Monday.

“Is that all he has?” Emhoff asked at an event on Tuesday.

Emhoff noted that since entering the race, his wife has clearly laid out her path to victory and is committed to paving the way for America.

“You heard the vice president yesterday take on Donald Trump. She made her case very clearly, directly and convincingly,” he said. “But she also laid out a vision for the future. A vision in which there is freedom. In which we don’t have to talk about today’s issues in this post-Dobbs hellscape created by Donald Trump.”

Harris and Trump are neck and neck in the first polls since President Biden ended his re-election campaign on Sunday. Democrats have quickly rallied around Harris, who virtually secured the party’s nomination when a majority of delegates pledged their support for her late Monday.

Her campaign got off to a quick start and broke fundraising records, raising over $80 million in the first 24 hours alone and millions more for other Democratic organizations.

“You see the enthusiasm, you see the excitement,” Emhoff said. “You see the money being raised, you see the party coming together. You see the broad support it had in just a day or two because it speaks of an America where we all have a place.”
