Three victims come forward after former police officer and volunteer firefighter arrested for child rape

NEW PATHS — More victims may come forward after a former A New Roads police officer and volunteer firefighter has been arrested for the rape of a child, Pointe Coupee Sheriff Rene Thibodeaux said Tuesday.

“Sometimes you think you know someone, and then later another side of the person comes out that you don’t know,” Thibodeaux said.

Kedreyon Williams, 29, was arrested on Friday on a number of charges. Williams was previously a part-time police officer in New Roads and a volunteer firefighter with Pointe Coupee Fire District 5. Because of Williams’ previous work as a police officer, officers were asked to take over the case.

“You don’t want a department investigating its own personnel, even if they’re only working on a part-time basis,” Thibodeaux said.

Thibodeaux says at least three of the victims are under 13 years old.

“Not a good day for Pointe Coupee, there is no winner in this situation,” said Thibodeaux. “There are potentially three victims, So it’s not a win-win situation for anyone.”

Williams was booked into the Pointe Coupee Parish Detention Center on charges of first-degree rape of a victim under 13, first-degree rape with a dangerous weapon, indecent conduct with a minor, and pornography involving a minor.

Thibodeaux said he knew Williams from his children’s high school and was shocked when investigators learned of the case.

“We thought he was a very nice person – and he was – but maybe there was something going on inside him that nobody knew about,” Thibodeaux said.

Williams was held on bail of $2.5 million.

New Roads Police Chief Cedrick Epps said Williams has not been employed by his department since he took office in March 2024. On Monday, he said Williams was a part-time officer with the department from October 2017 to May 2019.

Pedro Leonard, chief of Pointe Coupee’s 5th Fire District, said Williams has been away from the department for a month after failing to show up for work.
