BROOKLYN PARK, Minnesota – A 7-year-old girl was injured Tuesday in Brooklyn Park when she was attacked by a dog.

According to police, the incident occurred in the 7500 block of Janelle Avenue North. Police say the girl suffered “superficial” injuries from the attack.

While attempting to confine the dog, the police officer attempted to attack a boy. The officers then killed the dog, according to a press release.

It is the second dog attack reported in Brooklyn Park in the past five days, after officers responded to a 911 call on Friday, July 19, of two dogs attacking a three-year-old. The child was taken to a nearby hospital and was last reported to be in “critical” condition. Multiple officers shot at the dogs, killing one and injuring the other, a news release said.
