Body discovered in burned-out car at Memphis Police impound lot

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (WMC) – Memphis Police confirmed Tuesday evening that a body was found in a burned-out car at the police department’s depot.

The victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed. Police say the cause of death is still under investigation.

On Saturday, July 20, the car was discovered in flames at the intersection of Weaver and Tully Roads in southwest Memphis, according to MPD.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and the car was then towed to the Memphis Police impound lot at 465 Klinke Avenue.

Police said an unidentified body was later recovered from the burned-out vehicle. It is unclear when the discovery was made.
