Woman missing after last seen in southeast Houston

Family members have not heard from Angela Marisol Diaz since June 30. Houston police said her last known location was an apartment complex on Park Place Boulevard.

HOUSTON — A Houston family is desperate for answers as the search continues for a missing 22-year-old woman.

Relatives said they had not seen or heard from Angela Marisol Diaz since a text message on June 30.

“She was happy, she was good, she wasn’t afraid, she was perfectly normal,” Angela’s mother, Yesenia Diaz, told us.

We’ve learned some new details since we told you about Angela’s disappearance earlier this month.

Houston police are investigating the case and now believe Angela’s last known location was on Park Place Boulevard, near Galveston Road.

“We are very concerned about her safety,” Yesenia said. “I believe she is alive and she is out there, she needs help…”

According to family, Diaz’s boyfriend said he dropped her off at the Moonlight Inn & Suites on the Gulf Freeway around 4:40 a.m. on Monday, July 1, to meet another man.

“Why did he leave his girlfriend in the hands of another man? For what reason?” Yesenia asked. “Because for now, I don’t know the answer.”

HPD said it interviewed several people, including a man they know who saw Angela the night she disappeared.

His family said they also tried to speak with the man.

“When I called, I asked about my daughter. He first told me he didn’t know her, then he said, ‘Yeah, I dropped her off at Telephone Road,’” Angela’s father, Edward Diaz, told us. “I told him, ‘Well, at 4 a.m., her phone says she’s not online.’ He just insulted me and hung up.”

Family members posted flyers at a shopping center near the East Freeway at Federal Road, where they said Angela’s phone last rang.

They even went to the town hall to ask for help.

“It’s stressful because we want answers right away,” Yesenia said. “She’s not the kind of person she’s supposed to be, to disappear for three weeks without saying anything, without leaving a trace.”

Anyone with information on Angela’s whereabouts is asked to call HPD.
