Redmond police warn of “jury summons” scams after several callers falsely claimed to be police officers seeking information

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) – Redmond police said they received several calls Tuesday from citizens reporting an attempted scam.

Each person reported receiving a call from the Redmond Police Department’s business phone number. The person on the phone identified himself as a Redmond Police officer and attempted to obtain personal information from citizens. The caller claims to have missed a summons to appear for a jury.

“Please note that the Redmond Police Department does not call citizens and request personal information over the phone,” said the press release from Lt. Eric Beckwith. “NEVER give your banking or other financial information to anyone claiming to be a Redmond Police Officer. If you received this call and gave information over the phone, call your bank or financial institution immediately and report the suspected fraud.:
