Fatalities from Hurricane Beryl: After storm, a man falls on a fallen tree and is killed by it, coroner judges

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – As ABC13 learned on Tuesday, a man was struck and died while cutting down a tree that had fallen as a result of Hurricane Beryl.

The man was identified as 66-year-old Ronald Earl Coats, the coroner said.

He died in hospital on July 18.

Coats’ death was ruled an accident.

The storm is responsible for several deaths throughout southeast Texas.

In Harris County alone, 15 people were killed, including Coats.

A 110-year-old woman died from heat due to power outages caused by Beryl.

Galveston, Montgomery, San Jacinto and Matagorda counties also reported deaths.
