Man arrested in connection with investigation into fatal shooting in Ponchatoula

PONCHATOULA, Louisiana (WGNO) – A man has been arrested in connection with the investigation of a shooting that left a man dead in Ponchatoula in June.

Ponchatoula Police reported that officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 500 block of North 3rd Street around 9:30 p.m. on June 6.


At the scene, officers found Gregory Harvey Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Ponchatoula police said 59-year-old Kirk Arrington was arrested in connection with the investigation into first-degree murder and illegal use of weapons.

On Tuesday, July 23, Ponchatoula detectives announced that 42-year-old Ricky Alexander was arrested for his alleged involvement in the June 6 shooting.

According to police, an altercation occurred prior to the shooting, in which Alexander was allegedly involved and had a weapon on him before leaving the scene.

Alexander was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail and faces charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, obstruction of justice and second-degree assault.
