12-year-old girl raped in East Harlem, suspect at large: NYPD

Police are searching for two men accused of raping a child on the roof of their NYCHA building in East Harlem.



HARLEM, NY — A 12-year-old girl was raped in an NYCHA building in East Harlem, police said Monday.

The alleged rapists remained at large as of Tuesday while New York Police Department officers asked the public for help in locating them, authorities said.

According to police, the two young men attacked the girl shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Sunday in a Jefferson Houses building near East 112th St. and First Avenue.

It is currently assumed that the victim did not know his attackers.

According to police, after the attack the two men fled on foot in an unknown direction.

According to police, the child was taken to a nearby hospital after the attack and is now in stable condition to recover.
