Police seek suspect in sexual assault case

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect responsible for the sexual assault of an adult female at the Go Station in Aldershot, Burlington.

On Thursday, July 18, 2024, at approximately 10:10 a.m., the victim approached a woman at the Aldershot GO Station bus stop. The suspect engaged in conversation with the victim before rubbing the victim’s arm and playing with her hair. The victim and suspect boarded the same #17 bus to Hamilton together, where the suspect sat next to the victim and sexually assaulted her.

The victim suffered no physical injuries.

The suspect is described as follows:

  • Male, brown, 60-70 years old;
  • Approximately 1.68 m tall and stocky build;
  • He was wearing a grey cap, sunglasses, a blue polo shirt under a grey hoodie, black trousers and open sandals. The suspect had a black and copper-coloured walking stick and a light blue and black backpack with him.

Sexual harassment is any touching of another person without their consent, if the touching is of a sexual nature or if the sexual integrity of the victim is violated. Sexual harassment can range from unwanted touching to sexual harassment with penetration.

There is no statute of limitations for reporting a sexual assault. This means that no matter how long ago the sexual assault occurred, you can still report it to the police for an investigation.
