Citrus Heights police arrest man accused of sexually abusing children over 25

On Wednesday, Citrus Heights Police detectives arrested a 61-year-old Roseville man on suspicion of sexually abusing multiple children over the past 25 years.

Ricky Allen Vaughn is facing 12 counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, Citrus Heights police announced in a press release Thursday.

Vaughn was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on Wednesday and faces additional felony charges of committing a lewd act on a child under 14 using force or coercion and possession of obscene material depicting a person under 18, jail records show.

Vaughn was held without bail on Thursday and is scheduled to make his initial appearance in Sacramento Superior Court on Friday.

The investigation began in November, police said, when investigators were informed of allegations that a man had sexually abused an underage victim.

During the investigation, investigators identified and found several children – ages 6 to 13 – who had been sexually abused by Vaughn over the past 25 years. Police said investigators are concerned there may be additional unreported victims.
