In Indiana, cases of road rage are increasing

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – A man pointed a gun at a woman during a driving aggression incident in Evansville, according to an Evansville Police report.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m. Monday morning in the 3100 block of North Green River Road, and Evansville police said neither the driver nor the vehicle were found. This is just the latest incident in a series of cases that Indiana State Police say are leading to an alarming increase in road rage incidents across the state.

On Monday night, an 18-year-old was shot multiple times on Interstate 465 in Indianapolis. According to ISP, there have been 43 shootings on Indianapolis interstates this year, compared to 55 last year.

“I think if we could figure out the cause, if we knew why road rage incidents are increasing dramatically, we could prevent them. But there’s no clear evidence as to why this is happening. All we know is that it’s certainly increasing at an alarming rate,” said Indiana State Police Sergeant John Perrine. State police say drivers should avoid initiating or even responding to confrontations on the road.
