Shocking video footage of Australian woman after alleged gang rape in Paris

Disturbing video footage has emerged showing the moment a young Australian woman sought refuge in a kebab shop after being allegedly raped by five men in Paris.

The 25-year-old tourist was found disoriented and unable to speak French at around 5 a.m. on Saturday in front of a kebab shop on Boulevard de Clichy in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, just a few meters from the Moulin Rouge.

She was reportedly found in a dazed state with her dress worn “inside out” and partially torn. She claimed she had been raped by five people.

Now, video footage from a surveillance camera has been released showing the frightened woman running into the kebab shop and asking the staff for help.

When a man enters the kebab shop, alarmed customers and employees gather around her to calm her down.

The woman gestures to indicate that the man is her attacker, whereupon he impudently walks up to her and pats her on the shoulder.

The man is then confronted by a customer and flees.

The police arrived a few minutes later. The woman later told the officers that the men were of “African appearance.”

She was taken to Bichat Hospital.

The shop owner told 7News the woman couldn’t stop crying and her dress was damaged.

Other reports said the woman was carrying her underwear in her hand and her phone was stolen.

The woman whose alleged attack took place just days before the start of the Olympic Games had planned to return to Australia but will now remain in Paris to assist police with their investigation.

The Paris public prosecutor’s office said the incident was currently being investigated.

“The investigation into the allegation of gang rape, presumably committed during the night of July 19-20, has been entrusted to the second criminal police district,” the Paris public prosecutor’s office said.

The police launched a major operation following the incident.

A spokesman for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade told 7NEWS that the Australian Embassy in Paris was “raising urgent enquiries with French authorities following reports of an attack on an Australian citizen in Paris.”

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade stands ready to provide consular assistance,” it said.

According to Le Parisien, the police union Alliance Paris said investigators would “do everything possible to quickly identify the people and bring them to justice.”
