Arrest made in connection with Paris shooting – EastTexasRadio.com

Jairus Naqwell Garnes, 20, was contacted by a Paris police officer in the 1000 block of NE 8th St., knowing Garnes had outstanding warrants. Garnes admitted to having a handgun in his backpack. Officers recovered the handgun and found the serial number had been tampered with. Officers discovered Garnes was also a convicted felon. Garnes had three warrants out for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one warrant for illegal possession of a firearm, and additional warrants for illegal possession of a firearm and tampering with identification numbers. This arrest came after an incident on July 9 in which Garnes was involved in a shooting at the Booker T Washington Apartments.
