6-year-old dies in Milwaukee; suspect arrested for child abuse

The death of a 6-year-old boy sparked a child abuse investigation by Milwaukee Police. Relatives identified the little boy as Zane Mcattee-Adams. The incident occurred Sunday, July 21, near North 103rd Street and Mill Road. The child was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. A 33-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the child’s death. WISN 12 News crews were at the property Monday while detectives toured the property. Crews from the Milwaukee Department of Public Works boarded up the front and back doors of the duplex. Relatives released balloons and held a vigil, leaving balloons, photos and stuffed animals outside the property. Zane’s uncle, Fred Adams, who did not want his full face shown, spoke to WISN 12 News. He said his brother is Zane’s father. “This is what can happen when you isolate a child. And it’s not surrounded by people who love it as much. My brother had his own issues to deal with right now. He’s in jail and my nephew was just left with the wrong person,” Adams said. Family members said the woman arrested by police is not Zane’s biological mother. The investigation is ongoing and more details will be released as they become available. Milwaukee police said they have forwarded the charges to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
