On July 16, 2024, at approximately 8:45 p.m., an investigation was conducted regarding a report of 4-6 gunshots heard in the area of Park Drive and St. Francis near County Park in Kelseyville.

The following day, July 17, 2024, at approximately 11:00 am, a dead red and white Hereford bull was discovered by its owner. The bull was located on the same property where the herd lives. It is likely that the animal was shot in the area of Park Drive and St. Francis as the fence is closely adjacent to the road. It was determined that the bull was shot 4-5 times with a shotgun containing birdshot as several shot pellets were removed from the animal during the initial examination.

Officers reviewed video surveillance at the county park and saw a white four-door sedan with tinted windows exit the park and brake on its way to the pasture where the bull was located when the shots were heard.

Deputies are actively pursuing leads related to this senseless murder and are asking anyone with information to come forward. Please email Deputy Coddington at [email protected].
