Manteca woman and child killed in fire accident in Livermore, police said

A child and a Manteca woman were killed and a man is in critical condition after a serious car crash in Livermore on Sunday, police said. Emergency crews responded to a report of a car crash just before 2:30 a.m. on South Vasco Road near Naylor Street. Livermore police said when officers arrived, they saw the vehicle engulfed in flames. A 5-year-old girl was found and taken to an area hospital, where she later died, police said. A 24-year-old woman also died at the scene, police said. Officials said emergency crews pulled a 25-year-old man from the vehicle. He was taken to an area hospital, where he is in critical condition. Police have not yet released the identities of the victims, but said all three were from Manteca. They also said the adults were in a relationship and were traveling with their child. Investigators believe the car was traveling through an intersection, then left the roadway and struck a tree, police said. The force of the impact is believed to have caused the fire. Livermore Police said officers found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Officials said rescuers pulled a 25-year-old man from the vehicle. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he is in critical condition.

Police have not yet identified the victims, but said all three were from Manteca. They also said the adults were in a relationship and were with their child.

Investigators believe the car passed through an intersection, then left the road and struck a tree, police said. The fire is believed to have been caused by the force of the impact.

The crash remains under investigation.
