ATP Atlanta Day 2 Predictions Including Opelka vs Kovacevic

With the Olympics coming up next week in Paris, ATP Atlanta is without any of the world’s top players, but the field remains very competitive. There are plenty of American players in contention for a trophy on home soil, as are other talented players looking to make a big run. The top seeds won’t be in action yet, but it should still be a very exciting day full of high-quality tennis.

ATP Atlanta Day 2 Predictions

Aslan Karatsev vs. Billy Harris

Face-to-face: first meeting

Karatsev is having an absolutely terrible season, with just one win this season and injuries taking a toll on him. Harris, on the other hand, has been playing pretty well lately, including here in Atlanta during qualifying. Given his current form, Harris should have a slight edge here, even though it’s shaping up to be a very close match.

Prediction: Harris in 3

Miomir Kecmanovic vs. Adam Walton

Face-to-face: first meeting

Both players have played well on grass and will be looking to do the same on the American hard courts. That said, Kecmanovic is clearly the better player overall, even if he is not having his best season, and he should be able to get by quite comfortably here.

Prediction: Kecmanovic in 2

Mattia Bellucci vs. Aleksandar Vukic

Face-to-face: first meeting

Vukic has had a very good grass-court season and has climbed to No. 60 in the rankings. Bellucci has also played quite well, with some very close losses in Grand Slams to much higher-ranked players. This should be a fairly close match, all things considered, but Vukic should have a slight advantage.

Christopher O’Connell vs. Max Purcell

Face-to-face: O’Connell 1-0 Purcell

Purcell had a great run on hard courts in the United States last year, but it ended in the first round of the US Open against his compatriot O’Connell. While Purcell is usually the better of the two Australians, this match is always going to be a close one, with small margins. Purcell is the slight favourite, but the victory could well swing either way.

Prediction: Purcell in 3

Reilly Opelka vs. Aleksandar Kovacevic

Face-to-face: first meeting

Opelka had a very good week in his return to the tour last week in Newport, although it ended rather disappointingly. With his absolutely incredible serve, it should only be a matter of time before he climbs back up the rankings and if he is at his best, it will be very difficult for Kovacevic to have a chance in this match.

Prediction: Opelka in 2
