Storms, flood threats dominate Houston weather this week

Forecast for tonight:

The rain is finally easing with only a light shower remaining from what has been a difficult day for some of us.

Tuesday’s forecast:

The saying “when it rains, it pours” applies this week due to the tropical humidity. Any shower can bring several inches of rain in a short period of time and, like Monday, result in flood advisories and warnings. It looks like the rain will start to fall in the morning along the coast and move north.

Forecast for Thursday and Friday:

The stalled front responsible for our flood threat is still here Thursday and Friday. While the flood threat is not as high, it is still present. Do not let your guard down.

The stalled front is mixing with tropical moisture and bringing waves of rain and thunderstorms. Overall, we will see another 3 to 5 inches of rain over the next five days. Street flooding is possible in the morning or afternoon.

In the footsteps of the tropics:

There is no tropical activity in the Gulf, Caribbean or Atlantic Ocean. Saharan dust has been very abundant across much of the tropical Atlantic, keeping things very quiet.

We remain in this active storm pattern throughout the week. Stay alert to the weather and make sure you have extra time to drive. Increased rainfall means lower than normal temperatures. 95° is our average for this time of year.
