Protesters arrested after police clear MIT protest camp – Boston News, Weather, Sports

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. (WHDH) – Police moved into the pro-Palestinian camp on the MIT campus early Friday morning, removed students and began cracking down on the student demonstration.

A Cambridge police source told 7News there were about nine arrests for trespassing.

Authorities said they moved in early Friday morning and warned students at the camp about trespassing. They let the protesters leave at that point, which most of them did, except for the nine defendants.

Authorities tried to clear the camp once this week, clearing it on Monday before protesters returned and set up the camp again, where they remained until Friday morning.

“Fewer than 10” people were arrested on Thursday afternoon after pro-Palestinian protesters and police clashed outside an MIT building in Cambridge, a university spokesman confirmed, and more arrests were seen on Friday.
