Pedestrian hit and killed on highway in Encinitas

A pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 5 in Encinitas on Monday, according to the California Highway Patrol’s online traffic accident reports.

At around 2:35 p.m., callers reported that a man ran onto the highway north of Birmingham Drive and was struck by a white Tesla, logs show.

According to the records, the man died before he could be taken to a hospital.
