1 dead in house fire in Buffalo Grove

One person died in a house fire in the suburb of Buffalo Grove on Monday morning, officials said.

A township spokesman said firefighters responded to a 911 call about a garage fire in the 600 block of Woodhollow Lane at about 10:22 a.m.

When they arrived, they found that the fire had spread to the adjacent two-story house and one person was missing.

Firefighters entered the home and found one person inside, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name has not been released.

The fire was extinguished about 30 minutes after firefighters arrived, officials said.

The cause of the fire was initially unknown.
