Crime Stoppers offers reward after man found dead in car near Sloan’s Lake

DENVER (KDVR) – Denver police are investigating a June death as a homicide and are now working with Metro Denver Crime Stoppers to offer a reward for information.

Police were called around 11 p.m. on June 5 to investigate an unresponsive person in a vehicle at the corner of West Byron Place and North Yates Street, near Sloan’s Lake. Upon arrival, officers found the person in the car dead.


David Urena-Cruz, 23, was stabbed to death, according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner, which performed an autopsy on his body.

According to Crime Stoppers, Urena-Cruz had recently moved out of his apartment and was known to sleep in his vehicle at Sloan’s Lake.
