12-year-old girl raped on roof of NYCHA building in East Harlem

A 12-year-old girl was dragged up a flight of stairs and raped on the roof of a NYCHA building in East Harlem, police and sources said Monday.

Two young men, apparently teenagers, attacked the girl around 6:30 p.m. Sunday in a Jefferson Houses building near East 112th St. and First Ave., police said.

The youths dragged the girl up a flight of stairs to the roof of the building and raped her. The victim did not recognize her attackers, who fled on foot after the horrific attack, police said.

After the attack, the teenager was taken to a nearby hospital.

Police released photos of the suspects on Monday and asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
