Alleged horror attack on Australians in Paris

Just a few days before the start of the Olympic Games, an Australian tourist is said to have been gang raped in Paris.

French media reported that a 25-year-old woman was found disoriented and unable to speak French in front of a kebab shop on Boulevard de Clichy in Paris’ 18th arrondissement, just a few meters from the Moulin Rouge, at around 5 a.m. on Saturday.

She was reportedly found in a dazed state with her dress worn “upside down” and partially torn. She claimed she had been raped by five people.

She was taken to Bichat Hospital by the fire department.

The woman was reportedly drunk and was due to return to Australia at the weekend.

According to Le Parisien, the Paris public prosecutor’s office announced that the 2nd Criminal Investigation District is launching an investigation.

“The investigation into the allegation of gang rape, which presumably took place on the night of July 19-20, has been entrusted to the 2nd Criminal Investigation District,” the statement said.

A hearing was reportedly scheduled for Monday.

According to Le Parisien, the police union Alliance Paris said investigators would “do everything possible to quickly identify the people and bring them to justice.”

The action starts at 11pm on Wednesday 24 July with some men’s football matches, while men’s rugby sevens starts half an hour later.

The incident occurred just days before the start of the Olympic Games.

Before the opening ceremony, several competitions begin, including archery and handball.

After the opening ceremony, the official “Day 1” begins on Saturday afternoon.

On the same day, medals will be awarded in cycling, diving, fencing, judo, rugby sevens, shooting, skateboarding and swimming.
