Met police officer fired after sexually abusing a child at a party

A serving Met police officer has been sacked after being convicted of sexually assaulting a child at a party.

PC Farhan Ghadiali, who is assigned to the Central West Command, which covers Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster, was found guilty of sexually abusing the child while off duty in Buckhurst Hill, Essex, in September 2019.

He originally appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court in May 2022 when the court heard a hung jury.

But he was found guilty after a retrial at Chelmsford Crown Court last month and will be sentenced at the same court next Wednesday.

A misconduct panel found PC Ghadiali guilty of gross misconduct on Friday and he was summarily dismissed.

The convicted officer neither made a statement at the hearing nor was he represented.

Chief Superintendent Louise Puddefoot, of the Central West Command Unit, said: “PC Ghadiali has been found guilty of an extremely serious offence.

“If the Met is to gain both the trust and confidence of the public, we must better protect our integrity by rooting out those who are unfit to serve, such as this individual who was dismissed today.”

“We are investing more resources into investigating allegations of such misconduct.”

PC Ghadiali had been suspended from duty since December 2020.
