Shreveport acting studio has found a new home

A Shreveport acting studio has found a new home after announcing it would cease operations on June 20 following the sale of the city-owned Millennium Studios.

On July 22, Garrett Kruithof, actor and owner of Northwood Acting Studio, posted on Facebook: “I am so excited to announce that I have signed a lease on an amazing new studio space close to downtown on Line Ave!”

Northwood Acting Studio has been mentoring aspiring actors in Northwest Louisiana for eight years. During its tenure, its mission has been to nurture and develop local and regional talent by providing a platform for aspiring actors.

The acting studio was located in the city’s Millennium Studios.

In April 2024, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson leased Millennium Studios from the city for 30 years at an annual rate of $2,400. This lease resulted in the cessation of current operations at Millennium Studios.

In Kruithof’s original Facebook post on June 20, he said, “Thank you to 50 Cent and his team and especially Orville Hall for allowing me to be here as long as possible in the meantime.”

But since June, Kruithof has been working to find a new location for the Northwood Acting Studio. In his June 22 post, he said, “This new space has so much potential, with street frontage, a large 4×8 sign, and 1,900 square feet of dedicated areas that we can use in a variety of ways. With a three-year lease, we can plan for the studio far into the future!”

He continued: “This journey has been overwhelming, but your support has made it all possible.”
