MOATSVILLE, W.Va. A Moatsville suspect is behind bars after police say he attacked a woman and fled from police over the weekend.

Barbour County Sheriff’s officers arrived at the scene in the Arden area on Saturday and witnessed 33-year-old Christopher Wagner striking a woman to the ground in the neck. When officers ordered Wagner to stop, he fled the area on foot.

After a brief foot chase, officers deployed a taser and were then able to handcuff Wagner. Officers said Wagner began punching and kicking them when he was told he was going to be arrested.

Two officers were treated for minor injuries, but Wagner refused treatment.

Wagner was charged with strangulation, fleeing on foot, two counts of assault on an officer, obstructing an officer and domestic violence. He is being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on $65,000 bail.
