Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka advanced to the second round of the Atlanta Open by defeating American qualifier Zachary Svajda 7-6 (4), 6-3 at the Atlanta Athletic Club on Monday night.

Nishioka, ranked No. 86, will next face the winner of the match between No. 7 seed Brandon Nakashima and Mackenzie McDonald.
