SO, STEPHEN, THE CASE INVOLVES A MARRIED COUPLE, AS YOU MENTIONED. INVESTIGATORS SAY THE GUNSHOTER WAS A 51-YEAR-OLD HUSBAND. THIS IS WHAT WE KNOW THIS MORNING. POLICE RECEIVED A CALL JUST BEFORE 3 AM SUNDAY MORNING WITH REPORTS OF GUNS FIRED FROM THE HOUSE. THE HOUSE IS LOCATED ON COMEY STREET IN PORT SAINT LUCIE. INVESTIGATORS SAY THE HUSBAND, WHOSE NAME HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED, SHOT AND KILLED HIS 52-YEAR-OLD WIFE IN HER SLEEP BEFORE KILLING HIMSELF, WE WERE TOLD. A 16-YEAR-OLD FAMILY MEMBER AND A FRIEND WERE IN THE HOUSE AT THE TIME OF THE SHOOTINGS BUT WERE NOT INJURED. STUDY COVERAGE

Port St. Lucie police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that left a couple dead Sunday morning. Just before 3 a.m., police responded to a report of shots fired at a residence in the 5400 block of NW Cromey Street. Upon arrival, officers found an adult female and an adult male dead in a bedroom, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. A preliminary investigation revealed that the 51-year-old man shot his 52-year-old wife multiple times while she was sleeping and then shot himself. A 16-year-old family member and 16-year-old friend who were in the home at the time of the incident were unharmed. The investigation is ongoing and there is a moderate police presence on scene. Port St. Lucie police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide that left a couple dead Sunday morning.

Shortly before 3 a.m., police responded to a report of shots fired at a residence in the 5400 block of NW Cromey Street. Upon arrival, officers found an adult female and an adult male dead in a bedroom, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the 51-year-old man shot his 52-year-old wife several times while she was sleeping and then shot himself.

A 16-year-old family member and a 16-year-old friend who were in the house at the time of the incident were unharmed.

The investigation is ongoing and the police have a moderate presence on site.
