Teenager sentenced to life imprisonment for raping minor girl in Koraput

Koraput: A special POCSO court in Jeypore on Monday sentenced a 24-year-old youth to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of raping a minor four-year-old girl.

The Special POCSO Court sentenced Raja Ram Muduli of Paraja Sahi in Kakiriguma to life imprisonment based on the testimony of 22 witnesses and 27 documents.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on Muduli.

The court ordered the District Legal Services Authority to pay compensation of Rs 1050,000 to the rape victim. Since Rs 350,000 had already been paid to the rape victim at the time of filing the complaint, Rs 700,000 will be paid to her as the remaining amount of compensation.

According to the records, on May 19, 2020, around noon, while the victim was playing with other children on the verandah of her house, convicted Raja Ram Muduli lured her into a forest with chocolate and raped her. After the rape, Muduli left the minor girl unconscious. The victim’s parents, in a panic, rescued her from the forest where she was lying unconscious.

Her parents first took her to Kakiriguma Hospital and later she was shifted to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College & Hospital.

The Kakiriguma police had registered a case in this connection. After an investigation, the police arrested Muduli and handed him over to the court.
