Woman sexually harassed on bus from Whitby to Loftus – video released

A surveillance image of a man whom police want to question in connection with a sexual assault has been released.

Police launched an investigation after a woman was sexually assaulted by another passenger on a Whitby to Loftus bus. The assault occurred on June 3 on the Arriva X4 bus, which left Whitby bus station at 2.45pm.

North Yorkshire Police have now released an image of a man wearing a “distinctive” T-shirt, who officers would like to track down. A police spokesman said: “We are appealing for any information that may help identify the suspect. He is described as an Asian man in his late 20s or early 30s, slim build, wearing blue jogging bottoms and a dark top, with a tennis racket in a bag.”

“We would like to speak to a man seen on CCTV wearing a conspicuous top (see image) as we believe he may have information that could assist the investigation.”

If you recognise the man, or are this man yourself, contact North Yorkshire Police. The appeal continues: “Please email [email protected] or call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for PC 1057 Joe Harland.”

“You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their website. Please quote reference number 12240100228 when passing on any information.”
