Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker and Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel provide update on North Alden Street mass murder

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker and Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel will provide an update on the investigation into this weekend’s deadly mass shooting in West Philadelphia.

Nine people were shot, three of them died.

Officials are expected to hold a press conference at 11 a.m.

Police are currently searching for several armed men after several gunmen opened fire.

“It appears there were multiple shooters, but it is unclear at this time how many there were. We have counted at least 25 to 30 shell casings so far,” said Inspector DF Pace of the Philadelphia police.

The violence broke out shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of North Alden Street.

Investigators believe that a fight broke out during a gathering of over 100 people.

The victims were men aged 23, 29 and 33.

The condition of the surviving victims is said to be stable, but they have gunshot wounds to their arms and legs.

A weapon was found at the scene, but no suspects are in custody.

The police are asking for information to solve the case.
