Apparent murder-suicide in Port St. Lucie under investigation

PORT ST. LUCIE – Port St. Lucie police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide incident over the weekend in which a man shot his wife and then himself, authorities said.

At approximately 2:52 a.m. Sunday morning, police responded to a home in the 5400 block of Northwest Cromey Street for a report of shots fired. The location is west of Florida’s Turnpike in the area of North Torino Parkway and Northwest Conley Drive.

A man and a woman were found dead in a bedroom, both apparently from gunshot wounds.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the 51-year-old man shot his 52-year-old wife several times while she was sleeping and then shot himself,” police said.

A 16-year-old family member and a 16-year-old friend were in the house at the time of the incident. They were not injured.
