1 dead and 2 injured in accident near Pawleys Island

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCBD) – One person was killed and two others injured in a crash Sunday evening near Pawleys Island.

Lance Cpl. Lena Butler of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said a westbound Honda Accord and a northbound Subaru Outback collided on U.S. Highway 17 near U.S. Highway 17 Business shortly after 6 p.m.

The driver of the Honda died at the scene and a passenger was taken to a local hospital with injuries. According to Trooper Butler, the driver and sole occupant of the Subaru was also taken to a hospital with injuries.

Identification of the victim will be made by the Georgetown County Coroner’s Office, if appropriate.

The accident is currently being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
