Police: Teens in custody after two Kias were stolen, involved in robbery, accident after chase

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Four teenagers were arrested after two separate police chases for stolen vehicles that turned into a gunpoint robbery ended in crashes Thursday.

Rochester police said they responded to Bronson Court shortly after 7:15 p.m. for a reported robbery and found a 17-year-old who said he had just been robbed by a group of juvenile males, one of whom appeared to have a firearm . The group ran back to two Kias. Within 10 minutes, other officers saw the Kias – which were proven stolen – on Lyell Avenue and tried to stop them, but they drove off and split up, leading to two chases.

One of the stolen vehicles crashed into three parked cars in Lamberton Park, police said. After a short chase, police arrested a 16-year-old. The other Kia crashed on West High Terrace and three teenagers, ages 13, 15 and 16, were taken into custody. No one was injured in either accident. All suspects live in Rochester.

Officers are still investigating whether the juveniles in custody were involved in the robbery on Lyell Avenue. The indictment investigation was still ongoing as of 11:30 p.m
