Investigation underway into double murder in Hopewell following early morning shooting

HOPEWELL, VA – In a tragic incident early Sunday morning, two men were killed in a shooting on North Radford Drive. Hopewell police are currently investigating the case, which occurred around 3:30 a.m. near West Broadway.

Upon arrival, officers discovered two gunshot victims. Damonye Lamont Taylor, 23, of Hopewell, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, Dequante Travell Roney, 30, of Prince George County, was transported to TriCities Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Although the investigation is ongoing, initial police reports indicate there is no ongoing threat to public safety. The motive for the shooting has not yet been disclosed by authorities.

  • Police investigate overnight shooting on North Ocean Boulevard

    MYRTLE BEACH, SC – A shooting incident early in the morning of July 20 prompted Myrtle Beach police to respond to the 1600 block of North Ocean Boulevard at around 1:10 a.m.

    The area has been cordoned off, but investigations are ongoing, resulting in an increased police presence. Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area and use alternative routes if possible.

  • Victim found in early morning stabbing in Myrtle Beach

    MYRTLE BEACH, SC – A stabbing early in the morning of July 20 has prompted an increased police presence in parts of Myrtle Beach as local authorities continue their investigation.

    The incident occurred at 3:15 a.m. and initially led officers to the 800 block of 82nd Parkway, where the victim was found, but the investigation revealed that the actual stabbing had occurred in the 400 block of Yaupon Drive.

    Motorists are advised to take alternate routes due to increased police presence in those areas. Myrtle Beach Police are asking anyone with information about the stabbing to contact them at 843.918.1382 to assist with the ongoing case.
