Coach accused of sex crimes

A 45-year-old man is accused of multiple sexual assaults in Suva.

Guy Morris, who appeared before the Suva Magistrate Court, is accused of multiple counts of sexual abuse.

According to police, the charges are based on the allegation that the man sexually abused three girls aged 13, 14 and 16 on ten separate occasions between February last year and March this year.

The accused was reportedly the girls’ sports coach. The alleged incidents are said to have occurred during training sessions in Suva.

The Fiji Police have stated that they intend to vigorously pursue cases involving vulnerable members of the community.

“We urge all parents to be vigilant when sending their children to training or other activities,” a police spokesman said.

“It is important that young people feel encouraged to report unpleasant matters immediately.”
