Arrest at Smash and Grabs jewelry store in south Sacramento

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with two robberies at a jewelry store in south Sacramento, according to the sheriff’s office. The thieves got away with over a quarter of a million dollars worth of jewelry. Officials said a group of suspects first robbed the store on Christmas Eve last year. Seven people broke into the store during business hours with hammers and other blunt objects and smashed display cases. Customers and employees hid in a back room fearing for their safety, the sheriff’s office said. Two suspects robbed the store again on February 13th. They broke in again during business hours, smashed the display cases and stole jewelry. The sheriff’s office said around $280,000 worth of jewelry was stolen between the two cases. On Thursday, investigators arrested 19-year-old Julian Lomeli of Stockton in connection with both robberies. Investigators are still investigating both robberies and are looking for additional suspects. The thieves stole jewelry worth over a quarter of a million dollars.

Officials said a group of suspects first robbed the store on Christmas Eve last year. Seven people broke into the store during business hours with hammers and other blunt objects and smashed display cases. Customers and employees hid in a back room out of fear for their safety, the sheriff’s office said.

On February 13, two suspects robbed the store again. They broke in again during business hours, destroyed the display cases and stole jewelry.

The sheriff’s office said about $280,000 worth of jewelry was stolen between the two cases.

On Thursday, investigators arrested 19-year-old Julian Lomeli of Stockton in connection with both robberies.
