Moment when the Wiltshire Air Ambulance takes off after attending to a medical incident

A crowd gathered to watch the Wiltshire Air Ambulance rescue helicopter after it landed nearby.

The rescue plane landed at John White’s field in Gayton Way at around 7.45pm on Sunday evening.

The two paramedics were immediately picked up by a police car with blue lights flashing and taken to the nearby emergency room.

The pilot, who remained with the helicopter, was then greeted by a large crowd, including curious and amazed children.

A short time later, shortly before 9 p.m., the paramedics returned without any patients.

The field was then cleared of all people while the rescue plane’s rotors began to turn and it finally took off.

It is not known what emergency the rescue helicopter was used for.

Wiltshire Police have been contacted for comment.

This month, the charity confirmed it had experienced its busiest start to the year ever, with a 25% increase in missions in the first half of 2024.

Funding the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Charity’s life-saving work costs £4.5 million each year, or around £12,000 a day.
