Active search underway for motorboat incident in Sodus Bay

SODUS, NY (WROC) – An active search is underway following an incident involving a motorboat in Sodus Bay, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies said witnesses told them that a boat made a sharp turn in the bay and “ejected” the two people on board.

One person was found and taken to a nearby hospital by rescue plane. The search for the second person on the boat is ongoing.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police and the Alton and Sodus Point fire departments provided assistance.
