16-year-old and 18-year-old arrested in connection with shooting in Piqua

A 16-year-old and an 18-year-old were arrested in connection with a shooting early Saturday morning in Piqua.

According to a social media post, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Fisk Street at 12:10 a.m. after initial reports of a shooting were received.

Upon arrival, an 18-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the leg, but he refused medical treatment. A vehicle was also hit by gunfire.

The department said on Facebook that a 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man ran away before officers arrived.

The suspects were found at a Shell gas station in the 600 block of South Street and taken into custody.

The 16-year-old was taken to the West Central Juvenile Detention Center where he is charged with three counts of aggravated assault. No charges have been filed against the 18-year-old.

The victim and suspect knew each other before the incident and officers recovered a firearm from the gas station’s restroom, said Piqua Deputy Police Chief Marty Grove.
