LSU starter suspended after disruptive arrest

LSU Tigers cornerback Javien Toviano has bigger worries than football.

Gabby Jimenez and Wilson Alexander of NOLA.com reported that Toviano turned himself in to authorities on Sunday after being accused of video voyeurism. The warrant states that the LSU cornerback is accused of filming himself having sex with a woman without her consent using a camera hidden in a watch. The woman allegedly discovered several videos on Toviano’s iPad showing the two having sex.

The arrest warrant also states that he admitted to filming the woman with a hidden camera during an interrogation with investigators. The woman claimed that he filmed the two of them several times, despite her requests that he not do so.

The Tigers announced shortly thereafter that Toviano had been suspended from all team activities, but made no further comment.

Toviano, a 4-star recruit from Arlington, Texas, was a national top-100 player in the class of 2023. His offers included top college football programs such as the Michigan Wolverines and Alabama Crimson Tide, but he chose to play for LSU instead.

Toviano started three games in 13 appearances last season. He finished the season with 33 total tackles and one pass deflection.

There was a very real chance that Toviano would make the Tigers’ starting lineup this season, but instead he will be leaving the program while authorities continue to process his arrest and upcoming trial.

It is unclear what will happen next, but it appears that Toviano is currently cooperating with authorities.
