2-year-old boy found dead in toilet in central Delhi | Latest News Delhi

A two-year-old boy was found dead in a public toilet in central Delhi’s Anand Parbat on Sunday, police said, adding that a murder case had been registered and an investigation was underway.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Harsha Vardhan said the boy’s body was found at the transit camp in Anand Parbat around 10 am on Sunday morning. “The body was in an abandoned toilet block, about 100 m from the slums where the deceased’s family lives,” Vardhan added.

The police control room received a call from the deceased’s father at around 1 a.m. on Sunday, reporting him missing. “When the police arrived at the scene, the boy’s parents said he had been playing outside the house in the evening. They searched for him and asked their neighbors, but could not find the boy and reported this to the police,” the officer added.

Several teams were formed to search for the boy, an official said. At around 10 am, the boy was found unconscious in the abandoned and destroyed toilet. “Nobody uses this room. Men often come to this area to consume drugs,” the official said.

According to police, the boy had some superficial injuries, but his clothes were intact. “At first glance, it does not look like the boy was sexually abused, but the autopsy will clarify the details,” the officer said.

The boy’s body was taken to a city hospital for an autopsy. The autopsy is scheduled for Monday. The boy’s father works as a drummer and his mother is a housewife. The family has not mentioned any suspects, an official said.

Police have registered a murder case and formed several teams to investigate. “CCTV footage from the area is being obtained and analyzed. Local residents are being questioned,” the officer said.
