Police appeal after attack and injury of men near a fishing pond

Two men were taken to hospital after being attacked near a fishing pond near a wooded area, police said today.

The police chiefs have now launched an urgent appeal for information.

The men, both believed to be in their 20s, suffered injuries and remained in hospital Monday evening, police said. The extent of their injuries is not yet known.

The men were attacked near a fishing pond off Nutgrove Hall Drive in Thatto Heath, St. Helens, Merseyside, at around 1.30pm on Monday (July 15).

Merseyside Police appealed for information following the attack and cordoned off the scene. The men, believed to be in their twenties, sustained injuries and are still in hospital. The extent of their injuries is not yet known, reports The Echo.

After the attack, two male suspects were seen running towards Elephant Lane. Images from the scene showed a large number of police vehicles and also an ambulance. Access to the woodland and fishponds was blocked off with police cordons. No arrests have been made so far and the cordon has since been removed.

Police say they are currently conducting video surveillance and interviewing witnesses and are asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
