Man dead after traffic accident in Bath County

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – A man is dead following a car crash in Bath County on Saturday, July 20, according to Virginia State Police.

Virginia State Police responded to a one-car crash on Route 39, two miles east of Route 600 in Bath County, at 9:25 p.m.

According to police, the driver of a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was traveling east on Route 39 when he left the right side of the road and struck a tree.

The driver, Keswick Forrest Phillips, 51, of Warm Springs, died at the scene, according to police. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt.

According to police, speeding and alcohol consumption were the causes of the accident.

According to police, the accident is still being investigated
