Former San Juan County deputy arrested for child sexual abuse

MONTICELLO, San Juan County A former San Juan County deputy sheriff has been arrested on suspicion of child sexual abuse.

Authorities booked 74-year-old Grayson Redd into jail on Sunday after “an ongoing investigation into recently uncovered criminal conduct dating back at least two decades,” the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

According to the sheriff’s office, the allegations include rape of a child and sexual abuse of children and minors.

Redd was a former San Juan County Sheriff’s deputy. He retired in 2011, according to an article in the San Juan Record.

The sheriff’s office did not release specific details about the charges against Redd. An affidavit of probable cause was not yet publicly available in Utah courts as of Sunday afternoon.

Officials said there may be more victims. They encouraged anyone who was a victim of Redd to contact the San Juan County District Attorney’s Office Victim Advocate or the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.
