Ford Performance NASCAR: Brickyard 400 (quotes about the accidents of Josh Berry and Joey Logano) – Speedway Digest

Joey Logano, No. 22 Shell Pennzoil Ford Mustang Dark Horse

WHAT HAPPENED? “It looks like they were three-by-three a few rows behind me, and unfortunately the crash caught me. It looks like Hocevar sent him to the middle and kind of squeezed him back in there. That seems to be something he’s been doing a lot lately. Unfortunately, he caught me. He ran Jimmie into my left rear from the right rear and drove our Shell Pennzoil Mustang into the wall. That’s a bummer. You come to Indy once a year and you just dream about kissing the bricks. My team put a great race car in front of me, and we were leading with our strategy, and that’s pretty much all you can hope for, to be leading with your strategy. And we should have had a shorter pit stop, and we wanted to try to make up a few spots on the restart because a lot of guys stayed out. We could have had a shorter stop than them, and then hopefully we would have moved back up to the front, but we never pulled it off.”

Josh Berry #4 Panini/Caitlin Clark Ford Mustang Dark Horse

WHAT HAPPENED? “Without the replay, I’m not entirely sure. It looked like the 19 spun out and we were all just piled up and I think I got clipped from behind and went into the wall. That’s an unfortunate ending. It was a tough weekend. Today our car was really competitive. I was happy with the car. We started from the back and were never able to get track position. I had a tough day in pit lane too. Every time we got into the top 20, we got knocked back.”

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST EXPERIENCE RUNNING HERE ON THE OVAL? “It was a lot of fun and I honestly had a good experience today. We overtook cars and were well balanced throughout the race. I was happy. We needed a strategy to be up front. All in all, the guys did a great job. We got into a difficult situation in qualifying, but the car was pretty solid today. We still need to get a few things right, but we’ll get that next time.”
