One dead in boating accident on the Brazos River

WACO, Texas (KXXV) – Waco police confirmed one person was killed in a boating accident on the Brazos River on Sunday.

Officials say a boat became airborne during a race at an estimated speed of 200 miles per hour. The boat began to capsize and the driver was thrown from the boat. This happened at the Southern Drag Boat Association’s “Duel on the Brazos” at Brazos Park East, and a fatal accident occurred.

The medical team found that the boat driver was unconscious and declared him dead on the spot.

Waco police determined the person was not from the area.
