Evacuation alert issued for wildfire near Echo Lake

Due to a forest fire near Echo Lake, the North Okanagan Regional District (RDNO) has issued an evacuation warning to the Emergency Operations Centre.

This warning was issued based on recommendations from the BC Wildfire Service.

A press release said an evacuation alert has been issued to prepare people to evacuate buildings within a mapped area should it become necessary. Residents will be notified as early as possible before evacuation.

Locate family members and establish a meeting point outside the evacuation area in case an evacuation order is issued during separation.
Pack important items such as government-issued identification, medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers, items needed for the immediate care of your loved ones, and, if time and space permit, souvenirs for a quick departure.
Be prepared to relocate people with disabilities, children, or neighbors if help is needed. Be prepared to take pets and move livestock (if possible) to a safe area.
Organize transportation for all household members. Fill up private vehicles with fuel. Organize accommodation for all household members, if possible.
Wait for an evacuation order to be issued before evacuating.
